Swan-son Song

Holy Moly! Have you heard of Swanson Vineyards?!? What a cute website, with some great wine labels. I’d buy one or two or a case!

Talk about a HAPPY FRIDAY WineDay for a long weekend. I don’t know about you, but this week has been Looooooong. I’d love to sit down with one of these puppies right about now.

Spin It Out

There’s something magical about sweating. I know it sounds a little gross, but those of you that are athletes or workout-aholics, get it. Sweating just makes you feels, well, lighter, brighter, better.

I also know I am more motivated to sweat when I feel like I look good. And one of the first things that comes to my mind when wanting to look and feel good working out is Lululemon. Now before I continue I have to tell you I am not getting paid for this post, or any other post for that matter. This is a simply for me blog of things I love and want to keep a journal of and share with the ocassional onlooker, or family, friend.

That aside, Lululemon is a great source for clothing And inspiration. Their blog has become one of my go-to’s for motivation. Today’s post was no exception, in fact it was so moving, that I had to go ahead and write my own blog post on it!

Kate Hickl, a spin teacher and over-all fitness goddess. out of New York. Her video from Lulu is a must check out. She was once a big wig in the advertising world and left for her love of sweating (yoga, spinning) hits close to home for me. A real inspiration.

And if I were only in NYC I would check her class asap.

Beer Please

I know I have to work on this posting regularly thing. Maybe aiming for once or twice a week is a more realistic goal for me, since I started working full-time for a start-up… read long hours. But I love it and I get to stare and the Santa Monica beach all day, so can’t really complain.

But that’s neither here nor there.

What is HERE, is this amazing design work my Timur Salikhov. I just couldn’t resist sharing! Need I say anything else. Time to go crack one open. Hope it tastes as good as it looks!

Design Love

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted here. My apologies dedicated readers. I had some issues with my account info and was unable to log in and post. Funny how you want to blog that much more what you have no access to your account. But fear no more, for I am back.

I thought would start with a design post since it’s been a while for one of those. I fell in love with the designer Caleb Heisey and her packaging for a Swedish Folksaga Liquor. Enjoy!

A Colorful Beat

Today I have been searching for my lost inspiration, and along the way I found some pretty niffty stuff. This old record albumn being one that will stick with me. I just love the colors, shapes and simplicity of it all.

Thursday Thanks ::: 9 :::

So, it’s official, I am a resident of Marina Del Rey. Gosh this whole moving apartment things really has thrown me for a loop. There’s always so much mor to do than I realize. But Memorial Day weekend was a blast move or no move.

I am so thankful for:

• A wonderfully fun wedding with a truly happy couple and a wonderfully fun first time being a bridesmaid

• An amazing new apartment (pics above) and asome fun decorating to come

• Sunny and mildly hot weather to enjoy the new pool with on the long weekend

More regular posts to come now that we are getting settled. Promise. No, really.

Thursday Thanks ::: 8 :::

Whew! What a week and there’s still stuff to do. I am thankful for so many things this week.

• For making time to knit

• Meeting exciting new people

• Furniture shopping with the beau for our new apartment (moving this weekend! eeekkk!) We bought this couch in Faux Suede Paprika Herringbone, dining table and my new desk!

• Taking a moment and enjoying living at the beach

• I had some bad dental work done here in LA, so I opted to pay a visit to my childhood dentist back home. It’s always great to visit family while I am home in Palm Springs. And of course make a quick stop at Cheeky’s on the way out (a must go for food)

Read On, Reader.

I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately, and thus have a pile of books that I am reading, want to read and need to read when they come out. Here’s what’s on my list this month.

For the business side:

Since recently starting on the path to (graphic designer) freelance, I have been reading up on a lot of books for business. The first one I ever got when I was thinking about making the jump was, naturally, “Creative Inc.” by Meg Ilasco and Joy Cho. It’s my bible. Highly, highly recommend it to anyone starting out or veteran, there’s stuff in there for everyone.

The next one I want to read, but have not yet is “Design is a Job” by Mike Monteiro. Anyone read it yet? Let me know what you think.

And “Start Something That Matters” by the founder of Toms shoes Blake Mycoskie. What an inspirational story for business.

And of course, we can’t forget summer reading lists are coming out. I mean who doesn’t need a good book for the beach. And since I live at the beach, literally, I have quite the pile starting.

My book club just finished reading “The Fault in our Stars” by John Greene this month. What a great inspirational story about a girl falling in love while being sick with cancer. A tear-jerker in the end, but worth every tear. A definitely must read this year, great for the beach. It’s one of the fastest reads I have read in a while. I went through easy-breezy in a week, though some of the girls in book club said one day and they were done. It’s that great.

“Feeling the Shoulder of the Lion”, while not a light read, it supposed to help with the ego and open us up to the universe and our spiritual being. We all need to work on ourselves, all the time.

And after digesting all those books, light and not so, here’s one you can really consume this summer. Mrs. Lilien is one of my favorite lifestyle blogs around. And it’s only fitting that she came out with her first book, a “Cocktail Swatchbook” with delightful cocktails to flip through and make. It’s not out until the end of May, but worth adding to the list. I know it’s on mine.

What’s on your summer reading list? Recommendations?

Inspired for Inside

Its National Moving Month, and it’s official, our movers are booked. So, I thought I would share some of my inspiration for our new interior decor.

A must have: bright couch or other focal point in a mostly neutral room.

A great clean room with some floral, yet masculine wallpaper or art decor.

Rustic reclaimed wood for the dining room table with mix matched chairs.

Some great unique and creative lighting options and plants in the bathroom! Love that idea.

Last but not least, a cozy outdoor space for our amazing view of the Marina and Venice! So fortunate I get to live here soon!

And if you want to see more of my inspiration for the new place, I am always on Pintrest!

Week in Workouts :: 2

I woke up today to blue skies and sunshine for the first time in a few days, one of the few downsides to living close to the beach, the marine layer in the Spring. Still never any complaints here. But the clear skies and calm waters always inspire me to workout.

Here’s what I am doing (and already have done) this week in workouts:

Monday: my favorite yoga class at my favorite studio.

Tuesday: Full Workout (10 minutes of abs, 30 minutes of hard cardio, 20 minutes of strength training, 15 minutes of stretching)

Wednesday: 45 minutes run with the girls in Santa Monica

Thursday: Yoga in the morning & swim at lunch

Friday: Quick 30-45 minutes cardio only workout in the gym

Saturday: Day off (bachlorette celebration in Ojai)

Sunday: Full Workout (10 minutes of abs, 30 minutes of hard cardio, 20 minutes of strength training gonna try this workout, and finish with 15 minutes of stretching)

And if you need more motivation read this.
